Maintenance on a 06 Tundra - Click HERE for Original Thread
mlmx52002
Hi Guys,

I just took over the maintenance for a friend and she has a 06 Tundra. I just got running after a month of sitting. The battery was cooked from the factory I think. She said if she didn't drive it everyday it would die( the battery that is). Our local dealer is crapola. So my question is what kind of stuff needs to be done to it as it is 3 years old and only has 1035 miles on it. It gets an oil change Friday or Saturday by me as it has been in it over a year. Yes I know bad for it.

2006 with 1k miles ! Wow ! My 2005 is just about to hit 97k !

Things Id do -

Check the air filter - Its a high possibility that some small furry animals have made a home in there !
Check the cabin filter - ditto
I might let it run for a minute before changing the oil, that way all the broken down stuff will get mixed up and will be flushed, rather than just the oil in the pan. I might even consider doing that, then drinving it a bit and changing it again. But, Im a worry wort and tend to error on the side of over safe --
Just do a general check over - brake fluid, antifreeze, power steering fluid, dry rot on belts, make sure the emergency brake cable isnt stuck ( if has been set ), dry rot on the wiper blade inserts -- It really shouldnt need a whole lot, but, better to check now then when you are broken somewhere -

I'd also change differential and transfer case fluids to get out the break in shavings.

^ Good Idea - At least check for fluid in it !
