Let's see, at maximum passenger capacity, that's precisely 2.375 cupholders per passenger.

Now that is a lot of beverage consumption in a motor vehicle!

Only in America is that the most important feature of a vehicle.

I suppose we will soon be saying that the Ascent has a 9.5 litre displacement!

You bet even though a 19k base Impreza is all the car most people really need even with 2 or 3 kids!

Should I buy a 2018 outback or wait for Ascent? Can anyone tell me?

That's what I do for a living.

I suggest getting both.

Seriously, though, figure out if you need the extra room and capacity of the Ascent. If not, then get an Outback. If so, then order an Ascent. All the information is available on the Ascent on the Subaru website. Literally the only thing we don't have right now is the ability to test drive one.

You forgot Option 3: If you want to be an early-adopter-guinea-pig and spend over $30,000 on a vehicle with no proven history, get an Outback and wait three years for the Ascent to mature.
