Lightbulb 2008 OB Sticky Dash, blinding glare.

First post! This is exciting. Ill do up my profile when I get off work, but for now ill just let you guys know I have a 2008 Outback 2.5i All black (pretty good lookin)

Anyway I bought this car recently and It wasn't until this week that I learned my sticky and super shiny dashboard was in a "recall".
I didn't find out about it sooner because Subaru didn't file it with the NHTSA because it isn't "safety" related.

So now that my car has crossed its 10 year after initial purchase and everything, my local Subaru dealer told me its not happening.

But the problem is the glare, the sun is always out here, my sunglasses don't do a dang thing to help that.

So iv'e sent an email to Subaru America, inquiring them about the fact that I just purchased the car and am having issues with the glare.

My question is if anyone has had any luck getting this fixed by Subaru even after their extension had expired, I know its a long shot.
Also, just in case I can't get it fixed. What would you guys recommend to do about it instead?

dash cover may help. I have read of at least one person that complained about "little sparkles" reflected in the windshield from the fibers in the dashcover.....

I was able to get mine dine after the "expiration" date. While I didn't get a hard "yes" from SOA, I did get a reference number and it seemed to do the trick with the dealer. It may have helped to have it tag-teamed with the Takata recall.

Interesting.. Okay. Well ill see if I get a response from SOA, unfortunately I had my Takata recall taken care of earlier this year when I didn't have the knowledge of this issue.

That helps though, gives me some hope.

Get yourself some polarized sunglases. It will cut out the glare to just about nothing.

Some recalls were replaced with the same model, which will cause them to be recalled again (2020?). Check your invoice to see if you received a 98279AG00A replacement. If so, it will be replaced again in the future.

Looks like my invoice is at home, ill either get a new one from the dealer or go grab that one. I had no idea they had an interim fix for this.

Dealership told me same story, but I was able to get mine replaced by going through Subaru directly.

I called SOA about it and they told me there was nothing they could do, even after describing the glare. Looks like I am out of luck.
