So how well did I pick for my timing belt job?

So, after thinking about it for at least a year, I picked a shop to do the timing belt job! They wanted to do the water pump, stat, and radiator hoses as part of the job. They charged me $880 before taxes, and they used the AISIN TKF-011 kit. They replaced all the wear items. They said this kit is equivalent to OE parts?

So, thoughts? How did I do price wise and what does the forum think of this kit?

Thank You!

Lee

Reasonable for OEM quality kit. I wouldn't complain.

I'm thinking they did a great job. They had to replace the exhaust too from the cat back, they used Walker.

Yes AISIN kits are essentially the same parts as the Subaru dealer. I only use Aisin or Subaru timing components except in certain situations.

That's a great job and fair price.

Here's my Rough guestimate on parts alone:
$330 for an AISIN kit w/ water pump
$50 for Coolant
$25 for oil
$20 for T Stat
$50 for hoses
$6 for oil filter

Say about 2.5 hours book time , yup you got a good deal.

IF they are a competent shop, and it sounds like they are (keep them close at hand as there are a LOT of not so good shops out there), then you found an excellent source and you paid a very fair price. I've seen that same thing go for $1100.00 and not in big cities either, so rest well knowing they did the right job and a great price.
