Subaru outback 2018 xmode

Hi folks,2 months ago bought new OU 2018, 2.5 premium/summit in EU. I was Testing xmode and i noticed one thing...when going with xmode ON down the hill, i hear periodic noise/kicking in pbreak pedal like from ABS. Is this expected and normal behaviour? Thanks a lot guys, any advice appriciated....

X-Mode Hill Descent Control

At low speeds (under 12 mph) Hill Descent Control helps maintain vehicle starting speed for safer maneuvering--the car itself manages the throttle and breaking allowing the driver to fully concentrate on steering.

Yes, I know, but I face situatiun, when I am descending the hill with Xmode on and in specific intervals like 5-8 seconds I hear some loud strange sound, caused like with engine break or something like that...duration of that sound is 0.5-0.7 second. I can make an recording if needed...I just want to know that if you turn on Xmode and descend the hill, if you hear such sounds or descending is completely quiet...

I did not have xmode on my OB but these systems do make noise. Wanna hear the noise crawl control makes on my 4Runner? I have seen people agape looking at my vehicle thinking it will disintegrate or something

Just remember that on a Subaru, the system relies too much on the brakes, which are not designed for offroad use so there is a long-shot scenario where they can get overheated and then the car will dump control back to you. This is unlikely to happen in ordinary Subaru use but if you are one of the few who do push their Subarus, you will want to have that in mind.

Yes - the Vehicle Dynamics Control module will make noises - its operating the brakes individually as needed when you descend using x-mode. It mentions it in the owners manual its normal.

Yup. It's the ABS pump clicking on and off.
