Wheel bearings?

My 2015 Outback is making noises that sound like the wheel bearings are going bad. The car now has 63k miles on it. Is Subaru fixing this problem gratis since it's a chronic defect or am I on my own? I have a 7 year/100k/$100 deductible extended warranty but I'd rather not pay the deductible.

Ask your dealer. That's on you or warranty unless they're feeling generous.

Wheel bearing issues are seen on all manufacturers, it's not uncommon and is unlikely to be called a "chronic defect" by the masses with industry experience.

If you bough the Subaru Gold, wheel bearings should be covered.

Since you opted for a $100 deductible warranty....why shouldn't you pay it?

$100 may not even be an hour's labor charge at some dealers.

I had to replace one last year on my 2016 and had about the same or a little more mileage than you. I emailed SOA and they sent me a check covering the costs even though it was out of warranty.

Did both rears on my 2015 Legacy at 108,000 as they had been loud for a long time. Did it myself and found it to be fairly easy.

Had same issue with my 209 Audi A4 wagon. The Audi was a major pain in the A**. It does demonstrate that eventually, wheel bearings do fail. That is especially true of the sealed ones so popular these days.

Hi Mike,
Is their a specific dept. or email address at SOA you can send me? My rear wheel bearings had to be replaced too. Worth a try! Thanks!
