OUTBACK '19 v. '20

I'm in the market to get my very first SUBARU / OUTBACK. I know that the 2020 will be arriving to N. America mid-late summer. Should I wait to get the 2020 or is the 2019 better?

Depends if you want the FA24DIT engine in the 2020's.

money is another item to consider. There has been and will be some really good deals on the 2019's. Keep a watch if you want to minimize how much you spend. If money is not an issue, and you are not concerned about a first year model, wait for a 2020.

Some people here like the 6 cylinder engine (which goes away for 2020); if that isn't a big issue for you, and you aren't in a hurry, wait at least until some information (e.g., price) comes out and then you can start thinking about pros/cons.

try test driving a 2019 outback 2.5, and a brand new 2019 forester with the refreshed 2.5. (and read the specs on them).

as the refreshed 2.5 will land in the 2020 outback and legacy.

Found a Subaru Vin Decoder (also works on many manufactures):

Then I'd wait for more details on the 2020 and if nothing is a deal breaker, snag a discounted 2019.

Even though it's likely similar to the Legacy, the 2020 hasn't even been unveiled yet. I'd for sure wait to at least see what it looks like before making a decision.

I've often had trouble buying the first production run year of a new model. I've wondered if they are having me beta-test the car for the manufacturer. The 2019 model has had more of the bugs worked out.
