Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! And that 's good to know about KentuckyOutback and him dealing with a hard to find dash noise. I'll reach out to him and see if he has any advice. I was planning on taking as many parts off as I can and then drive around. That should help me hear it better or resolve it. My plan is the then as one part at a time until I can track down the culprit. It sounds like plastic on plastic but sounds can be deceiving with all the road noise and it being in the dash. Thanks again for the documents! They'll help so much.

    TheBoltman:

I also added a folder that has the complete Field Service Manual for the 2015. open the contents spreadsheet and it will link to the various chapter etc....can"t seem to find KentuckyOutback's fix, you may want to message him as well.

Here is a link to a dropbox folder with the files you asked for: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/dphu8gh37...4IG_2wl9a?dl=0 Hopefully you can get to them. If not email me at [email protected] and I will send them to you that way. I can't seem to be able to attach files to a visitor's message or PMs.

Be wary of removing the long defroster grille near the window. The instruction are pretty explicit that if it is removed completely, to reinstall it you need to remove the dash completely. The attached instructions just show how to raise it up enough to remove the sun and light sensors, not remove it completely. KentuckyOutback has a rather lengthy post about how he tracked down and finally fixed an illusive dash noise. I'll look for it and post that as well.

    Good Luck

    Sgtmaj,

I have a question for you. I have a 2015 Legacy and have a strange rattle in my dash and I'm trying to figure out how to take the dash apart to get to it. I found the following thread ( https://www.subaruoutback.org/forums/...dashboard.html) and was wondering if you might be able to provide me with the instructions

    1. Removing the long defrost vent cover front center near the window.
    2. Remove instrument panel/gauges (the odometer/speedometer).
    3. Remove the side dash panels.

I've been looking everywhere for a video or something that might help and haven't found a darn thing.

    Thanks.
