my10 2.0 D rear main leak?

Hi,
just looking for some advice. My MY10 outback diesel has developed a leak out the rear of the engine. I've cleaned thoroughly and the oil is coming out of a small hole in the dust cover under the flywheel. I'm thinking rear main seal? Car has 270K on it.

Couple questions-

Should I pull the engine or transmission? I'm leaning towards engine as I have a few gaskets to change around the turbo, EGR and DPF which may be easier to access if engine is out?

Does the Gen4 engine have more than the rear main seal that can leak back there?

I'm going to replace the clutch while I'm in there, any tips here?

What else should I look at doing while I have the chance?

Any thoughts appreciated.

Well two years on and two new seals later the engine has finally **** itself. Oil pouring out the back and loud noise from inside the engine. I suspect main bearing damage. Searching for another engine at the moment. Anyone else had this problem?

diesels aren't available in the areas where most members of this forum reside so there's very few diesel discussions or experience here.

in general subaru rear main seal leaks are extremely rare and usually caused by prior work in that area, namely scoring of the mating surface the seal presses against.

was this vehicle a manual transmission which had previous clutch work done?
