surfboard racks
I just bought a new 2017 subaru and I would like to get a rack for my surfboards. I have 3 of them and would like to fit all 3 of them on the roof. Two are more of longboards and one actual surfboard. So far this ( Inno ina445 Surfboard, SUP, Kayak, Canoe Locker for Car Roof Racks) seems like the best one but I would like to know everyone else's thoughts or experiences. TIA

On my 2010 I have the Thule 450 crossroads and 50" bars. With the 50" bars I can fit 2 longboards side by side, if I have my SUP on there I can fit it and my shortboard. Going to replace them with 58" bars to give me more room. I use pool noodles on the bars and along with some NRS straps. I have some dockslocks that I use to keep the SUP up there.

For yaks I have some Thule kayak stackers, which allow me to fit 2 kayaks up there along with a sup.

Thanks for the reply. How do you tie down the surfboards, it seems those are just crossbars?

Just wanted to provide an update. I decided to go with the Inno ina446 and they work really well. I have two long boards and a surfboard. I put all 3 on there with a thin long sheet of memory foam between them and I have zero issues driving on the freeway with this.

I first bought dakine aero rack pad for factory rail, but then swapped them out for rhino rack pad because almost fit entire length of factory crossbar. I use thule express strap for in town , then will uses rhino or dakine strap for longer road trips. I just wanted easiest n quickest strap. The express strap allows me to easily remove when not using. Im pretty sure i can get longy n shorty side by side on factory rail.

I dont use for sup. I just use as basic padded rack for mainly surfing and anything else i can fit up there. No bikes, sup or canoe attachments for me. Ladders, snowboards, lumber, etc, work great with straps.

Maybe this will work for Subaru Surfers:

I have had great success with Lockrack for hauling SUP's.

One of the requirements for me getting an OB was having the ability to carry boards inside the car.
If I’m solo I can get a 10.6 longboard inside by folding the rear seats down and reclining the front passenger seat all the way. I have to remove the front passenger headrest but that only takes a few seconds.
If I have passengers I strap the board(s) to the roof racks. I keep aero style pads on the crossbars and straps inside for just that purpose.
~easy peasy...
