Talking Raxles.com

I got a set of axles for my 05 2.5i from Raxles.com. They were very fast, friendly, and the quality was spot on!
Marty, the owner, is the one who responded to my email. He did so within an hour or so. Some of the other places I emailed didn't respond for several days!
They cost a little more than the napa or A-1 Carbine axles, but I think the quality is worth it. They only rebuild from original Subi Cores and use new CV joints!

Oh and dig this, they didn't charge me the core charge up front. They only charge a core if your fail to return the cores. They even include a UPS shipping label and a map to the closest UPS store from your house!

I had a great experience with them, and while I don't often write reviews, these guys were top notch and I felt I had to share.

Thanks, that's good to know. How long have they been in, and have you had any vibration issues?

They have been in for a week and a half. No Vibration issues at all. They feel great.

Just ordered 2 front axles from Marty today - Glad to see I made a good decision, unlike whomever put the current aftermarket ones in on our 2005 2.5i (vibration at idle, rusty axles, dry-rotting boots).

Ed, I'm not your average fool. Now I want my super sports wagon now, or I'm gonna take my business elsewhere!

Do the new joints installed by Raxles come from NTN? They can be identified by markings on the joint housings and boots. I hope that is true, otherwise there would no advantage over generic newly-manufactured aftermarket replacements.

Well, I wanted to post an update. Recently, I heard a clunking noise from under the hood. The boot was torn on the driver's side inner CV. Must have happened within the last 4000 miles or so because I check the CV boots every time I do an oil change.
At any rate, I called Raxles to order a new one. I read the warranty, and I knew that a torn boot means that the CV isn't covered.
When Marty asked if I had the original axle for the core, I explained that I had the axle he sent me 4 years ago. At that point, he said "Oh well, if it is one of mine, send it to me and I will fix it".
He didn't have to do it, but I am happy he did. Just cost me shipping to get it there and back again. Great service! I am very happy that I went with them 4 years ago and they have made me a customer for life.

I'm fed up with cheap axles. Had a Cardone reman go bad on me 3 days after install (joint started knocking). I drove on it for a year and neither boots split. I then bought a new Cardone. Within a couple months, the outer CV boot slipped off the hub side. Finally I ordered an EMPI axle and it came with a bent flange near the ABS tone ring, and the outer joint when moved by hand felt a lot rougher than the inner joint, as if it had sand in it. The bent flange was the shipper's fault, but nonetheless, I'm done with trying to pinch pennies.

I emailed Raxles asking for a quote 2 days ago (Saturday) and Marty got back to me on Easter Sunday. $150+shipping per axle if I mailed my OEM Subaru core back. Unfortunately I had already turned in my core when I bought the Cardone reman, so I had to pay $210+shipping. Hurt my wallet a little bit but more problems with the cheap axles would have hurt it more...and taken more of my precious time. I just got off the phone with Marty...in less than 2.5 minutes all my info was taken and my credit card processed.

CN: Should probably have ix-nayed the cheap axles right off the bat and gone to Raxles. Will update.

Je Suis Désolé...

one can also grab a couple OEM axles out of a junk yard or used parts warehouse, and reboot those with subaru boots.
