To add to the "Carl Cares" moment, and I apologize, I don't want to come off as a killjoy, there is something people should be mindful of: the open sunroof or moonroof can add to head and neck skin cancer: UV from above

@anarchyx34 OK. So you are now hiding the 3.5mm female in the center console storage unit? On Amazon, one can find just about anything... Here's an example of a Bluetooth car kit, that would give you hands-free use of the phone. This might not be something you want or need to use. Just...
  3. Subaru places HOLD on sales and deliveries

    Gen 6: 2020-Future
If you are rotating every 3yr/36K then you're likely taking advantage of the warranty coverage. That's smart. But, you are paying for it - which for some people - is not smart. I have to ask, do you or have you ever owned a Subaru? Like I said before, you're doing a good job of taking shots at...
  4. Toyota’s take on start stop

    Gen 6: 2020-Future
Call them or write them. They can still "fix it". There's got to be an area of the HU that is relatively constant where a S/S off can be placed, specially on car-start. They could create a mod for the shifter faceplate, or create a new button for the button cluster - my '19 has a spare spot...

It sounds like you are still way ahead on saving money which is something you can do because you have the skill, experience and knowledge to make it happen. And I wager you are having some great (and maybe needed) fun with the adventure overall... "Have I still got it? Yeah, I do" sort of...
  6. 2020 On the fence (Pro & Cons)

    Gen 6: 2020-Future
I note they had to include other buttons not on screen to manage defrost and temp up/down. That's really all you need to ponder when it comes down to the design. Got to be able to run the defrost without the unit being functional, and that includes defrost of the side mirrors. When a windshield...

@administrator @eagleeye I think when a Super Moderator gets frustrated at the site because it's not user-centric, someone in the ether should step up and provide some idea about what is the plan for site improvements. We keep asking for fundamental things that should be easy, and assuming...

If it were me? If you know the size of your radio and if it is HK or not, I'd head over to Crutchfield and look at my options. You can get a heck of a AA or ACP-compatible system that would support your steering wheel controls and your backup camera (if you have one). Crutchfield Car Audio
  9. Spider in Eyesight chamber

    Gen 5: 2015-2019
Everybody wants to kill what they don't understand. Spiders are our friends. Really. Most all of them don't have a bite that could possibly break the skin. They catch and eat other bugs we don't like. Historically, they've been considered a sign of good luck.

  11. 2020 OB have a CD player?

@walker what I'm trying to do is find a good site to find easily navigated exploded diagrams like this. They help me visualize what is not immediately apparent, and what is available for my vehicle in terms of parts. there must be a URL at that site that you are using to bypass all the glitzy...

That's weird. They probably got the infotainment system at a hefty discount.
  14. 19mm sway bar

    Gen 5: 2015-2019
No carving, no slicing, no dicing, no pureeing... No running on rails... But better right? I've got the 19 on the Rear, and the front strut tower brace, but I wonder if someone makes a better front sway bar. I also wish I could knock a click off the power assisted steering. It's all done...
  15. Auto Start/Stop

    Gen 6: 2020-Future
Question: how do the manufacturers prevent repetitive "rich re-starts"? I thought that in a properly operating system - you would avoid running rich (MAF and O2 sensors doing their thing), but starts might be rich. Upon engine start, how do we know the unit isn't dumping in more fuel that is...

Right, as was mentioned in another thread page 8 of your owners manual describes the sound and the evap system operation.
  17. Eyesight disabled message

    Gen 5: 2015-2019
Yep. Bring it in. That's not normal. Mine will disable in a hard downpour or with condensation on the glass. I don't remember getting the "Check Manual" message. Anyway, the times mine disabled, clearly (ha ha) the cameras couldn't see out the windshield.
  18. 2018 headunit issues thread.

    Gen 5: 2015-2019
The trend is for AA and ACP support, and there, Subaru is doing a good job. But it is not universally profile orientation (it's landscape), nor this 11.5" in size. Below is a link comparing different systems. Most of what I do is commanded by voice in AA, and if I need to, I use the HU for a...
  19. Rear lift gate randomly won’t open

    Gen 5: 2015-2019
Are you writing that because it will be hard for the dealership mechanics to diagnose and repair if it's not actively beeping three times? Is your service writer unwilling to see if this is an issue others have encountered and documented? Confused. I'd call SOA on it. I think the vehicle is...
