  2. Oil Consumption

    Gen 5: 2015-2019
I've just crossed the 73k threshold on mine and I haven't had the need to add between changes. I burn 1/4 to 1/3 qt every 6-8k. Try a thicker oil within the grade.
  3. High mileage 3.6R

    Gen 5: 2015-2019
How do you know the hitch wear marks aren't from a bike rack? I have the hitch and it's wired for electrical but I only used it for a bike rack.

  6. The Subaru battery challenge (and rant)

    General Discussions
Walmart, at least local to me, has very fresh stock. Had to buy a new one for wife's Civic on Nov 19 and the date on the battery was Nov 8. $119 and no core charge.
  7. Toll transponder mounting?

    Gen 6: 2020-Future
In CA we are starting to have unified transponders that work on all toll roads and I believe that's part of national mandate there will be unification. Otherwise you might have a glove compartment full of transponders. The new ones for us have the dimensions of a Band-aid with an embedded chip...
  8. What did you do with your 5th Gen Outback today?

    Gen 5: 2015-2019
Today it took me to the Jets v. Ducks hockey game and thereafter, to acquire a bottle of plum brandy and after that some KFC to catch a cat.

If you zoom in on the hitch and receiver area, it says Toyota.

  12. CVT service FYI

    Gen 5: 2015-2019
No manufacturer gives you a definition of "lifetime". Is it my lifetime, lifetime of the vehicle, lifetime of the component as defined by the manufacturer or something else? I'm reminded of Garmin's little fiasco where they pushed lifetime map updates as a sales feature however lifetime seems...

  14. CVT service FYI

    Gen 5: 2015-2019
I don't believe it until it's in writing on official Subie letterhead. Sounds to me from OP that the dealers are messing up the CVTs and that is a dealer issue and not the owner. So if the OP got the right info, a dealer won't change my fluids bc their techs mess up. After they allowed to...
  15. Any recommendations for best oil brand to use?

    Oil and Fuel Discussion
Maybe he's thinking of NOACK loss but that's more of indicator of oil composition makeup than a performance deficiency. Redline oils have values of 6% because of sythentic oil basestocks but any oil that has a value of 10% or less is a non-factor.

  18. Scumbag Yokohama and heres why.........

    Tire Discussion
This is a good point and while we don't have standing to tell the OP where to spend his money, however.... Discount Tire is active here and they have extremely good customer service and a very good reputation. I can't imagine they aren't an authorized dealer and won't be able to set you up at...
  19. Scumbag Yokohama and heres why.........

    Tire Discussion
I can't say that Yokahama treated your right or wrong by Walmart. For some things Walmart sells at low prices unmatched by others (that's why we all go there) and that means the manufacturer sold it to them at less of a profit but is making it up on volume My guess, and it's only a guess, is...

Before you get your knicker too knickered up, Amazon selling stuff can be a problem, like yours. The most common problem is electronics. Phones are a common problem with out-of-US phones sold on Amazon that come from other countries. Yes the phone is a Samsung or Apple and it's the real deal...
