Bought in March 2018 for $700 from my brother-in-law. Had 184,000 miles, overhauled 5MT with Subaru genuine parts (because I could not find aftermarket support to speak of), replaced clutch, replaced exhaust except midpipe, sway bar links, all 4 wheel bearings (one at a time, all were noisy). Once exhaust leak, clutch pilot and throwout bearing, and wheel bearing noises were addressed and car drove quiet, a persistant engine knock/tap could be heard, I performed rocker lash inspection, all were within .001" of spec. Suspect connecting rod bearing spun...11,000 miles later the problem has not fixed itself. (Maybe I just need to give it more time???). Since I don't expect that to work in my favor the plan is to pull the motor and rebuild!
