  1. Problems & DIY Maintenance
When I bought my Outback (used, at 25K miles) the brakes had a bit of a pulsing, noticeable mainly just when going downhill at high speed. I replaced the pads and had the rotors turned. Now, at about 150K miles, the problem is back, much worse than before. I suppose it could simply be...

My backing plate is rusted and bent pretty bad and needs to be replaced. All my searches are coming up with backing plates for foresters or the closest one I can find is one off of subaruparts.com for a 2003 outback. anyone know where I can buy a rear right backing plate or even the whole...
  3. Gen 4: 2010-2014
Hi folks, first post. I’m not sure if this sub forum or the “problems“ one is correct. Info that might be relevant: -pads replaced a few days ago -slight vibration in brake pedal at end of braking (right around stoppage) —Squeak/groan sound rear left wheel when brakes applied and car is shaken...
  4. Wheels, Tires, Brakes, & Suspension
I have fixed the issue now, but for anyone with a constant grind after doing pads and rotors, CHECK THE CALIPER PINS! Chased the noise for a while until I discovered the lower pins were seized on both sides. Hope this helps someone!

Just installed Trq drilled and slotted rotors front and rear with carbon ceramic pads. Also did new front calipers. The braking performance improved exponentially. Strongly recommend to anyone thinking about overhauling their brakes.

Ok, Thanks to @Brucey we know the ascent brake package works on the Outbacks. According to what I think I'm interpreting correctly the 2022+ WRX brakes will also work so eventually there will be higher end brake packages that could do the same job as the ascents but just easier to obtain? I say...

I have a 2016 Outback 2.5i Limited and getting ready to change the rear brake pads and rotors. This is my first Subaru and I have been researching OEM and aftermarket options for pads and rotors. I came across this statement on the Subaru Dealership site: Using generic brake pads and rotors when...
  8. Wheels, Tires, Brakes, & Suspension
Hi there, so I bought a 2017 Subaru Outback Limited 3 weeks ago and this squeaking has started. It’s like a bird chirping almost but it’s very noticeable. It sounds like it’s just in the drivers side front tire, and it only happens when I press the brakes lightly. The moment I put some actual...
  9. Problems & DIY Maintenance
Hi y'all. I'm driving a bit of a rust bucket, but am trying to fix her up. Did the rear brakes over the winter and it went smoothly, and now am doing the fronts. I was surprised when I encountered the dual cylinders, but I kinda knew how to deal with them I thought. Anyways, on to the...

2004 Subaru Outback H6 - 3.0L - L.L Bean Edition ~224,000 Miles I did a full replacement of the pads, rotors and calipers on my 2004 Subaru Outback; now I am quite sure that my brakes are sticking periodically. The car will periodically shake, tends to pull in either direction, and become...

Hi first time Subaru owner here, 2004 outback all-wheel-drive limited edition. Absolutely in love with this car, but I'm having brake issues. The rear brakes and rotors were absolutely gone, and after we replace the rotors and brakes we still had a grinding noise so we took off the emergency...
  12. Gen 3: 2005-2009
So I recently bought a 2007 Subaru Outback, and I was doing my due diligence and checking and replacing fluids to get it in good shape while I'm waiting for insurance, registration, etc. I noticed that the brake fluid was not looking great and the brakes were feeling a bit spongy, so I went to...

So not sure if this is the right place to post this but my new-to-me 07 Outback 2.5l basic 141k sounds like its riding on rails or something. I'm doing a brake job on both the rotors and pads thee week as their rusted to **** and hoping that's the noise and not the drivetrain. Might add calipers...
  14. Gen 3: 2005-2009
Over time my car has developed a few annoying sounds. Hopefully you guys can lead me in the right direction as I am on a tight budget and dont want to pay a shop if I could possibly handle it. Car: 2006 Outback, 2.5i 5mt lowered on legacy struts. Sound one: Drove north for a couple hours...
  15. Gen 5: 2015-2019
Has anyone tried to extract better stopping/shorter stopping distance in their Outback? I sold my 16' Mustang GT and bought the 2019 Outback 3.6R and so far almost after 7,000 Miles I still feel I have more events where I had to stand on the brakes to come to a sudden halt. Often happens if I...
  16. Gen 5: 2015-2019
Hey there, I am a new 2016 Outback owner, and am trying to do some work on my car. I plan to replace all four of my struts, my front-right tie-rod end, and my rear brakes. If you have space I could do this kinda of work, I can even pay to use the space. If you know of such a space, or you have...

We've put down a deposit on a Subaru Outback 2.5i Premium AWD (. . . .subaru.com.au/outback/specs) with the "tow bar." . . . subaru.com.au/outback/accessories) The spec. sheet says that "With trailer brakes (max) (kg) = 1,500 kg." We've been advised that shipment is ready, but that optionally...
  18. WRX 4-pots, mounted

My new front brakes. 2007 WRX 4-pots on the stock rotor (exact same part #). Went with a 5mm spacer and longer lug studs to hold it all together.
