I have a 2.5L '02 Legacy with just shy of 200k miles. I'm having off and on trouble with misfires (check engine light goes on/off reguarly, but when checked it says cylinder misfires). It's primarily cylinder 2, but will misfire on all cylinders. I've changed spark plugs, wires, and ignition coil, but it seems to keep coming back every so often. Previous owner said he had head gasket and drive belts replaced. Any ideas on what to check next?

miles?

what brands did you use on the replacment of the plugs/ wires/ coil. (subarus like NGK product...only).

and I hope you did not toss a perfectly good OEM coil that could last forever vs. a aftermarket that could last 5000 miles.

_______

might be engine grounds. is it any worse on rainy or damp occasions?

_____

a old front o2 sensor can make for minor misfires also. and then progress to make a code of its own
. (some other things like that too that start with misfires).
