I have owned this since new.

When the car has been parked overnight on a hill and and started up in the morning, when I start to go down the hill in 2nd gear, no throttle, the engine light comes on. When I get to the bottom of the hill ane drive on, the engine light comes on and it runs rough for a few minutes, then it's OK. It has been doing this for a few years.

The other night I was driving home quite late with the engine well warmed up. Twice when I slowed for a corner the engine cut out completely and the engine light came on. No power brakes or steering! I jump started it while the car was still moving.

Any suggestions for a cure?

Many thanks, Karl

what are the codes? (parts stores...outside of califonia are known to read them for free,...and you don't have to buy anything)

Get the car scanned for codes, without those we are just guessing. If the check engine light flashes, then that is an indication of misfire/s, but we would still need codes to know which cylinders are the problem, even in that case...
