Hey folks,
4th gear pops out of mesh and into neutral at the drop of the hat.

Is this a common problem, and is there a relatively simple fix?

I've heard and read everything, and according to the thousands of experts in town, The problem could be anything from replacing a few nylon bushes in the shifter, to pulling the trans and looking for bent shifter forks. Also heard there is 'ONE NUT' if secretly tightened, that will solve the problem. May I see the range of your world opinion.?
Thanks,

Not hard to check transmission mounts- and it's fairly common for old loose mounts to allow a transmission to move around enough that it pulls strain on the shifter and knocks itself out of a gear.

Just gotta get under there with a lamp and a prybar to see if you can make it move.
