It seems as if the hydraulic lifts for the rear tailgate lift door are shot on our 2011 Outback. Is there a DIY for these, or is it a pretty straight replacement job? The vehicle is daily driven by Karen and I haven't seen it today. She says they are not working any longer to lift the door.

Easy replacement

Available through most parts stores or thru Amazon:

Easy job, use a small flat blade screwdriver to pull the spring clips back enough to remove the ball joints and put the new ones on the same way. Five minute job to replace both. Be sure to have a helper to hold up the heavy tailgate so you don't break anything (such as the rear window) during installation.
