on the 2013 outback does it have DOT 3 or DOT 4 clutch fluid?

I need to add some on my '13 outback?

the owners manual says not to mix both types of fluids, so not sure what is on my new outback from factory

You should never have to add clutch or brake fluid. If it's low, you might have a leak.
As Subiesailor suggested, don't even consider messing with it, take it to a dealer.

It might need topping up if the pads have work down. That's fairly normal.

It is surprising that Subaru cautions against mixing DOT 3 and 4. It's usually DOT 5 (silicone) that is the problem fluid.
