I tried searching for this, but the engine didn't like my terms. Are there any counter - indications for attaching the source end of a power lead (8 gau. for an underseat subwoofer) to the battery cable terminal at the starter solenoid, rather than running all the way to the battery proper. This seems far more elegant to me, what with the reduced corrosive nature of the neighborhood. Going to a heavier gauge battery cable isn't a problem, as far as I can see. Thanks for your consideration!

In short, it shouldn't matter. The only thing that may cause an issue if the current draw of the amp is higher than what the solenoid can handle. The other side of it is whether or not if the solenoid is powered all the time or is shut off. You could test for the continuous power but the current rating is a guess. I would just go all the way to the battery to limit the opportunity of a ground loop/noise issue.
