I have a friend with a crunched turbo Baja sitting around and was wondering how difficult it would be to swap in his DOHC turbo engine in place of my SOHC Blown N/A engine? I have an automatic 2000 Subaru Outback.

Motor is a bolt-in, engine management will require either swapping the entire engine/underhood/dash harnesses and ECU or having your harness merged with his (there's an outfit over on NASIOC that'll do that, fees seem to be in the $500-800 range)

If his is AT it's probably best to swap the trans with it as I'd be willing to bet it's different, and it's not much more work to do so.

If you don't want to take it on, what's he want for the whole car, and where's it located? I'd be interested in it for swap fodder.

If his hood isn't damaged.. I WANT IT!

Otherwise, what has already been said.
