I have a 2001 Outback 145k miles that is not idling properly when cold. Speeds up and slows down. Also rpms started speeding up and slowing down around 2000 rpm causing jerking etc. What could be the problem? Thanks
I would start by cleaning the IACV (Intake Air Control Valve). It is on the Drivers side of the intake where the throttle body is attached. It is cylindrical held on by 2 philips screws and has an electrical connector. Just use some Carb cleaner to clean it and the cavity. This has helped me with similar idling issues.
