My friend just put a 2005 2.5 short block plus heads in to a 2000 OB. The original motor in the 2000 was a 2.5 as well. He noticed that the Crank Sprockets were different, so he used the sprocket from the 2000 motor. Now it doesn't really start up and sounds like a timing issue.
Can any one tell me what the problem is? I am wondering if there is a difference in the cam sprockets as well. Is there any way to make this swap work?

Yes, the cam sprockets are different. He needs to swap those as well.
