On the 2005 Maintenance Schedule, it says to (I)nspect the clutch at 105K.

What does that really mean?

It seems like it would be a huge amount of labor to actually get in there and look at it.

Yes it is. Inspect the clutch=Check hydraulics, pedal, hoses/lines and feel for slippage. If you aren't getting a low pedal or slipping when the clutch is engaged, don't sweat it.

And if they take it apart because their desperate, they will tend to sell you a clutch kit. "Your clutch seems fine, but it would be a good idea to replace the kit while we have it apart."

There's actually a clutch inspect cover you can remove too that allows you to see the pressure plate and throwout bearing. It's on the passenger side of the bell housing underneath the intake plenum.
