after installing a used 4AT in my 2007 outback and driving without incident for about 200 miles the right front cv axle popped out leaving me unable to move what could cause this and what can i do to prevent this? Bad circlip? improper installation?

reinstall it and make sure it's properly seated. they can take some force to seat - i typically use a 2x4 block and hammer and tap around the perimeter carefully (proper angles, etc) to seat it.

look for damaged circlip, axles, trans.

so after removing and inspecting the axle i found the spline to be worn down looking into the transmission(with flashlight) no obvious damage, ordered a new axle is there any precautions i should take before installing the new axle? Any information will be appreciated.
