My differential dipstick is now extremely loose and its causing oil to spit out here and there... anyone have any do it myself hints and what kind of oil should I get?? Please and thank you.

there should be an o-ring at the top of the stick. They can get old/hard/flattened.

OEM fluids are fine. Any brand name would be OK as well. A 'value' choice would be the semi-syntetic blend from Supertech at walmart. Check the type fluid in your manual, probably GL-5

that fluid really stinks and the smell lingers on your skin, consider using some long gloves if that's a concern.

be sure to clean the magnet on the drain plug - probably find 1/8 teaspoon of 'sludge' or so. I thik it will take a T-70 tool, but newer models may be different than mine.

75w-90 weight GL-5 is hypoid gear oil, its been known to smell, it always has.

If you need that o-ring, the dealership Parts guy or girl, can get it for you.
