I ordered an Exedy clutch kit. The pilot bearing box says China. No country of origin markings on the throw out bearing. The clutch disc is labeled made in Japan.

Have people had good service life with Exedy, or should I consider buying a Subaru throw out bearing from the dealer? I don't think Subaru OEM clutches have the highest reliability. I'm leaning toward using the kit as is, and rely on Exedy's name.

I really prefer my critical bearings to be made in USA, JAPAN, or SWEDEN.

The problem with clutch kits usually arise from TOB issues...

ACT might be Japan-made, if looking for a cheaper-than-dealer option.

Adding some info since this thread showed up in a web search for exedy chinese bearing. I was similarly disappointed to see unmarked Chinese TOB and pilot in the Exedy kit. I want to think that Exedy knows what they're doing, but the kit was quite a cheaper than OE and sometimes you get what you pay for.

The machine shop that resurfaced my flywheel sourced a proper quality Nachi pilot bearing that appears to be a Toyota part, 90363-12002-77. Identical dimensions.

I opted for a OE Subaru TOB, was in stock and ready to go. The extra cost is cheap insurance in the big picture.
