I found my inner front left boot torn. Im still under the extended warranty and I'm taking it in on Monday. Do dealers usualy replace the entire shaft or just the boot when its ripped? I hope the service includes degreasing.

another question, do you have to do a front end alignment after the shaft is removed and replaced?

I'm fairly certain they only replace just the boot unless they see significant dirt or damage to the actual joint(s).

I had the same issue on my 2008 and had the boot replaced under warrenty.

I don't think you will need a new alignment.

Local dealer in Boulder only replaces axle, no reboot, at least out of warranty. Not sure about in warranty, but ideally it's the same.

No alignment needed.
