37,000 miles and you want a warranty claim? HA HA- Never heard of such thing. Most car tires are showing signs of being a tad tired by 40K to start with. I have 40K on ours and we are at the wear bars - new tires next month! WE are not getting the Continentals again! They have had major issues holding balance and at least one tire has gone out of round. The replacement tire will be a BFG Touring tire which has some great reviews from several different vehicle owners and the price is a good value. I can't wait to get rid of these lousy Continentals.
2010 Outback Tire Warranty?
Does anyone know the specifics about what the warranty on the Outbacks OEM tire (Continental pro contact) covers?
specifically treadwear? my tires are at 37,XXX miles and the tread is nearing the end of its life... does subaru prorate a new set? or am i left high and dry?

Even if this were covered, tire warranties are almost always prorated. They'd probably give you $20.
Hey lets drive our car around the world when we get back we can file a claim that the tires didn't hold up and get new tires! Seriously its no wonder people hate American's we come up with some of the weirdest logic.

I have also attached a copy of the original equipment tire warranty from this web page. I am pretty sure that the best you can hope for is a pro-rated discount on a set of new tires.

The Owner's Manual states that the tires are warrantied by the tire manufacturer, and not by Subaru. And, this is true for all makes of cars. Didn't you notice the additional little booklet in your glove compartment containing the details of Continental's tire warranty?

The tire warranty on these Continentals--just like other OEM tires--covers only "defects in materials and workmanship". It does not cover damage to the tires from road hazards, nor does it cover tread wear-out.
Everything that you need to know on this topic should be sitting in your glove compartment.

I know it is an old thread, but instead of starting new one I thought I would revive the existing one. I noticed attached booklet has prorated 6 year warranty on tire.
I have discovered strange issue I have never seen before - front passenger tire is having 2 linelike dents/deformities on the side - in shape of a line. Like someone took a ruler and pushed it heavily sideways into tire, and it is in 2 places, about 2 inches apart. Never seen this before on tire, a bit puzzled over it. I maintain the car and
tires are inflated at 34 front/32 rear, rechecked pressure yesterday and it was normal i.e. tire did not leak air due to line dents;
rotate it every 10K miles (reverse X pattern if it matters);
car is at 42K miles;
about another 15K thread left on tire based on my estimates, so was thinking of riding them till the about end of next year.
Is it worth going for warranty in this case, or alternatively, even is it safe to drive it, or I should just byte it and replace all 4 tires myself (probably do it with Costco with either Michelin or Bridgestone which go on sale every month for $70 off).

At 42k miles, those tires are getting very close to the end of their lifespan. Even if you could get another 15k from them, please bear in mind that, as the tread wears, the resistance to hydroplaning decreases on a continual basis. Thus, while the tires are, technically, safe to drive on, you would be far better-off with new tires at this point.Is it worth going for warranty in this case, or alternatively, even is it safe to drive it, or I should just byte it and replace all 4 tires myself (probably do it with Costco with either Michelin or Bridgestone which go on sale every month for $70 off).
Additionally, the pro-rating means that, after 42k miles of wear, the reduction in cost for a replacement under warranty would mean paying very close to full price for one tire, and--of course--full price for the other 3 Continentals. And, or course, then you would still have a model of tire that is...okay...but far from ideal. Remember, you CANNOT replace just one tire unless you want to cause major damage to the AWD system, so you would be paying very close to full price for 4 Continentals.
IMHO, you would be far better-off just waiting until Costco again has the Michelin Defenders on sale--more than likely in a month or so. Currently, they have Bridgestones on sale, but the Michelin Defender is an altogether superior tire.

You deserve some new/different tires. Probably the single best thing I ever did for the car. So much quieter and smoother. Would not even consider trying to get a pro-rated discount on the oem tires.
