2012 2.5i Premium stereo installation questions

I just got a 2012 2.5i Premium with the Standard head unit.

I bought a Pioneer Appradio2, and an Axxess ASWC to handle the steering wheel control duties.

I also bought the dash kit, wiring harness, and antenna adapter from Crutchfield and this is where my questions start. I prewired the harness days ago and just found out that my vehicle has different wiring harnesses. I found a thread mentioning the same thing, but it didn't answer all of my questions.

These are are what I bought from Crutchfield:
Subaru In-dash Receiver Kit Fits select 2010-up Subaru vehicles (double-DIN) at Crutchfield.com
Receiver Wire Harness For select 1987-up vehicles at Crutchfield.com
Subaru Antenna Adapter Works with select 2006-up Subaru vehicles (Motorola male to OEM antenna female) at Crutchfield.com

When I pulled the stock radio out, this is what I see...

From what it looks like, I need a totally different harness. Even the antenna adapter I bought doesn't look like it'll fit anywhere. Can somebody point me to the right products. Apparently Crutchfield's database is off. Can you identify what the wires coming from my vehicle are?

The two white plugs are obviously the main harnesses. What is the black plug? What is the brown plug? What is the 2-prong plug?

I'd love to get started on this project, but I want it to be plug n play, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The black plug is an additional chassis ground, the two prong is an older style nissan diversity antenna connector and the brown plug is the aux input from the center console. The larger white plug looks like the 2010-2011 radio harness (that's also a nissan) but without having the radio in front of me I cannot guarantee.

Thanks. Thats makes a lot of sense. I think my brain was too fried after work yesterday.

I'm fairly certain that the large white plug is the 20 pin Subaru/Nissan kind. The ground and AUX connector make sense, and the antenna does in fact look like the Nissan diversity type. The smaller white plug must be for the USB/iPod jack - that will be easy to test.
I love that head unit:D

I just hope this head unit doesn't become obsolete with iOS6 coming this fall! It shouldn't with firmware updates, so I'm not really concerened.

iOS6 has turn by turn navigation built into the new Apple maps (iMaps?). I would imagine that this will integrate well with the Appradio, just like Google maps does now. I was planning to use Nav Free for my GPS duties though.

...I've finally sourced the antenna adapter I need and just ordered it from Amazon Prime.

It looks like I will get custom Subaru-specific harness from ae64.com. I don't want to take a chance with the '07-Up Nissan 20 pin harness (Metra 70-7552) that will physically fit, but the wiring may be different from Suabru's. Apparently Subaru has too small of a market share to have specific harness from the large aftermarket companies.

I will definitely post something when I get it all working.

I haven't had any luck with contacting/ordering the harness from svxdc (www.ae64.com). Perhaps he's on vacation or something. I did order the Metra harness as a backup plan and that should be arriving today. I'll have to see what wires are missing and figure it out from there.

This HU installation has been a sloooow process to say the least. Luckily I have other projects to work on, and the stock head unit isn't half bad. Siri integrates well with the stock bluetooth. I've used it to send messages, check stock prices, and tell my phone what music to play (my favorite is "shuffle all songs"). The weird thing is is I use Siri several times, then the bluetooth can sometimes lose its connection and won't reconnect until either the car comes to a complete stop or is restarted (I haven't verified which it is). I would be worried I was to stick with the stock HU.

It's moving at a snail's pace, but I'm OK with that. David contacted me yesterday (he actually was out of town) and I ordered the complete harness for the job. As an added bonus, I returned the Metra harness I bought to Amazon, and they just refunded the money and told me to keep the harness! I don't know what I'll do with it but at least it was free.

The new HU awaiting transplant. I haven't even fired it up to test it. I've never had a new toy sit unused for so long...

do yo know if the app radio will access androids google maps?

AppRadio 2 (SPH-DA100) - In-Dash iPhone® 4/4S and Android™ Compatible Car Receiver with 7" Capacitive Multi-Touch Screen, Built-In Bluetooth for Hands-Free Calling, and On-Screen Access to Compatible Smartphone Apps | Pioneer Electroni

Apparently so. Click "Apps" on the left, then scroll down to see that the maps app is both iOS and Android compatible. I do know that android users have more problems with Appradio than iPhone users.

It's probably best to get into specifics here:
