Hello all,
Traded in my 2011 Outback for a Crosstrek. I had 48,000 miles on the Outback as of Saturday when I picked up the Crosstrek. I'd purchased the OB in Sept 2010 - yeah, I do a fair amount of driving.
The XTrek is a premium level w/ sunroof, no nav and no audio upgrades. I'd visited just 2 dealers and made the buy from the 2nd dealer. I had checked a couple of online sites for pricing and felt I got a pretty good deal considering the high mileage of the OB. I did get a seatback protector and the optional Homelink mirror. I just got the standard Bluetooth programmed today. I tried doing so last night but I must have been tired because no matter what I did, I couldn't seem to get it correct. Had no problems getting it operational today. I'm not sure but it may be the case that you can program only 6 speed dial numbers. Whenever I activate the Bluetooth, it comes on at an alarmingly loud volume. I hope there's a way to turn down the dial tone volume which I simply have not yet found.
One nice thing I've come across (don't know if it's ever existed before) is the ability to turn off the Subaru instrument sweep when the key is turned on. The display which is located between the speedo and tach is illuminated in some odd way which, for my eyes and while wearing sunglasses, is VERY difficult to discern. Speedo and tah needles are red illuminate which will also be a bit difficult for my eyes to see clearly.
I was surprised to learn that Subaru is shipping the Xtreks w/ synthetic oil. They advise first oil change at 3K - which is, as you proably know, extremely low mileage for synthetic.
I must say there's a considerable difference in build quality between the OB and the Xtrek. No power driver's seat option in the Xtrek. And I was waxing the roof today and noticed there's a considerable, and somewhat disappointing, amount of flex in the roof panel. Radio doesn't sound as good either.
I've looked at the manual, not exhaustively, and have yet to see anything about a break in period. I tend to take it easy for about the first 1,000 miles, not even using the cruise control, which by the way I surely hope has improved in comparison to the OB.
