Mine started giving late directions after I got my nav traffic working. At least that is when I noticed it, but it seems to give little or no notice fairly regularly now. Last night, it actually told me to turn on a street about 50 feet after I passed it.

Mine will tell me to make u-turns though. There may be a setting that tells the unit to avoid u-turns.

As for making a right turn across several lanes causing an accident, I don't think you can blame Subaru or the NAV system for poor decision making on the part of the driver.

I just talked to my dealer and no TSB shows up under my VIN, but they also did not have TSB 15-155-12R showing up on their list to begin with. They are going to do some more research and get back to me.

Good news/bad news.

The good news is that I was able to see TSB # 15-155-12R today.

The bad news is that it does not cover the late directions issue and I was not able to get a hard copy of the TSB. It was a 5+ page document that had a form to fill out in it, I assume this would be used to order the new SD card if the vehicle qualified. I did not get to see all of it, but I did see that it covers multiple vehicles from the 2012 Forester, BRZ, WRX and Legacy though it did not specifically list the Outback. THe image of the stereo under the Legacy was the same as what we have in the Outback. I was also not able to see all the testing steps but I did see the list of qualified issues.

It covers the following 7 issues - keep in mind this may not be word for word. I set my iPhone to record as I read the document out loud and have retyped what I said here:

1 - When the Auto*P*button is pressed on Settings*screen in AM or FM, asmallpop*noise is heard through the speakers. This*may occur when the sameradio station preset is saved twice in the Preset*memory.

2 - Song titles are not shown in iPod mode.*when the Search*button on the*iPod main*screen is pressed while the*"Searching iPod Please wait"*message isdisplayed

3 - CD playback is delayed for approximately 10 seconds after loading a CD or theCD mode is selected.

4 - FM radio can still be heard even if the audio unit is in “Audio Off” mode. This*happens after Delete Personal Data*button is pressed and cycling theignition key off and back on again.

5 - I Agree*button cannot be selected on the Caution screen.

6 - In XM mode, the keypad appears normal but is inoperative while the vehicle is inmotion. Once the vehicle is stopped, the keypad operates normally.

7 - USB Flash Memory device is not recognized.

Are you saying that 15-155-12R TSB is all related to the audio/music problems and not navigation issues?
That's exactly what I am saying. The document said something about making sure the customer knows that the map software on this CF card is the exact same software they have currently. This only addresses audio related issues.

My concerns are related to the navigation/map/turns whereas turn read-outs are spoken (in TTS mode) too short in advance (compared to Garmin Nuvi). And those cannot be adjusted. The only adjustments that I found on that system were the adjustments of read-outs for warnings (you can change the distance, when those warnings are anounced).
I have the same late notice and sometimes notice to turn past the street you are supposed to turn on that you have. I really wish I had bought the base model and done this all aftermarket at this point. Sure I would have given up EyeSight but all these additional headaches are just not worth the added cost.

Well, it looks as though they are addressing the "short notice" to make a turn with a change to the CF card.
I assume you intened to say "it looks as though they are not addressing the..."

If so, then I would agree with you because this appears to have nothing to do with the short or late notice.

BUT, Page 24 in the navigation manual for the 2013 Outback says that certain features cannot be used when the vehicle is in motion "WHEN THE SAFETY IS ON" Do you see any reference to shutting a safety off or on? That would be huge. Did it have a wiring diagram that some of the techies here could use to figure out how to bypass the speed sensor?
Nope, nothing in what I saw.

Talked to the dealer again and this is now considered a known issue on some vehicles. They need me to drop off my Outback for a day so they can drive it and get video to document the problem before we move on to the next step. I was not told what the next step was, but at least there appears to be one.

I probably will not have time to do this until after the first of the year, but that gives me something to look forward to next year I guess...
