I love my new 2013 Outback!! However, there's a problem with the premium sound system. Periodically, there will be noise, sort of like static. This occurs not only when the audio is on, but also when it is off. After some prodding, my dealer called the Technical Experts and they suggested replacing the amplifier, which apparently remains on even when the audio is turned off. That has helped, but has not eliminated the problem.

Any ideas?

amplifier static when radio off

i had this problem, caused by water under the passenger seat (stopped up sunroof drain hose) and it fried the amplifier.

Try turning your cell phone off, or stowing it in a different spot. RF from the phone may be getting into audio wiring. A phone on standby transmits a brief burst periodically.
