HI. I have a 2016 Outback Limited. The strut on the the left hand side got bent, I think from forcing it to open while there was ice build up.

I'm not sure if this left-hand side part is the powered part or just a traditional strut.

Has anyone replaced this piece? Can anyone confirm for me the part number, and perhaps provide some replacement tips? I'd prefer to try to do it myself if I can.

Wondering if this is the correct part: https://parts.subaru.com/p/Subaru_2...EMBLY-REAR-GATE-LEFT/66757556/63260AL03B.html

rswanker,

There is a gas shock on each side of the tailgate. They are identical. If this is the bent part you are referring to, then you have the correct part number.

There is also the rod from the rear gate power motor assembly (on the left side of the car but more towards the center of the car). This rod pushes the gate open and pulls it closed, and sticks out of a slotted rubber cover from the driver's side rear inside panel. If this is the part you've bent, it's part number is 63320ALOO1 ($51.97 MSRP).

To confirm what I've given you, go to your linked parts site, go to the home page, and insert the part number in the window provided. There'll be a small diagram of the parts and those related. Enlargen it to confirm its what you need. Good Luck!
