2017 limited trim or 2019 limited trim

CR has the 17 model as more reliable .The 19 has more user friendly apps for my wife to use and of course safety is stellar on both models. Can anyone please compare the 2 for me ? I promise to make a decision on my own.(With my wife's help of course).

+1 for 2019. It has standard eyesight, so that's one less thing to look for in the 2017. I suspect the CR ratings are impacted by the growing pains of the new entertainment system that was a part of the mid-cycle refresh for the 2018 & 2019 models.

I have a 2018 and have had 0 issues with the radio (bought it as a CPO so not sure what might have been fixed prior to my ownership). I bought it after trading a 2017, I wanted the upgrade to eyesight. There are a lot of other minor refinements that I noticed between the 2 years (CVT seemed a little smoother, and suspension seemed better, but maybe those were just my perceptions moving to a car w/ 50,000 less miles?).

Available Subaru Certified Pre-Owned Warranty Coverage Upgrades
Vail drivers who want additional peace of mind will surely:
  • Classic Wrap-Around Plan: Provides coverage for nearly 1,000 components throughout the engine, transmission, drivetrain, front suspension, steering, brakes, cooling and fuel systems, air conditioning, and electrical system. Also included are towing service, rental car, and reimbursement for eligible repair services.
  • Gold Wrap-Around Plan: This takes the Classic Wrap-Around Plan to the next level with coverage of hundreds of more parts, along with travel assistance, computerized trip routing, dealer locator service, and out-of-town breakdown coverage that includes meal and lodging reimbursement
This is what I was going to suggest. If the warranty is a concern, get the CPO Gold extended warranty. This is pretty similar to (and maybe the same thing?) the gold plus plan you can add buy for a new Subaru. When I bought my CPO the finance guy said my only opportunity to buy it was right then and there (not sure how true that was). I told him I wanted it but was only willing to pay $1600 because that's what I paid for the $0 deductible 7/100 Gold Plus on the Subie I was trading in. He hemmed and hawed and gave me the "we're only making 1 cent on this" line but eventually agreed to it.

As for the loyalty coupon, the one I received specifically stated for a new Subaru only, so I was not able to use it on my CPO 2018.

Good Morning,
I spoke to the salesman today after going over the pros and cons with my wife. Decision:. It's certified, they went over our with a fine tooth comb. Looking over car services
like carfax and 1 other it's a very fair deal. The only warranty is the 2 years on the powertrain. The money we saved from the extended if we need it will be used for repairs.... down the road. Thanx everyone for your input.
Enjoy your new Outback!
