My 2017 Outback is currently at 70k miles. It was sitting unused for 5 months and I had to charge the battery twice during that period as it had drained completely.
About 2 weeks after I started driving my OB again, I got a p2404 engine code occasionally on starting the engine. I would reset this code with my OBD2 and continue driving. After a while, this occasional p2404 on engine start progressed to both p2404 & p0441 engine codes which now would fire occasionally either on engine start or while driving.
I have changed the gas cap and have never had issues filling gas. Although I reset these codes multiple times, it keeps coming back, which when it does, illuminates the check engine light and disables the driver assistance systems (Eyesight, RAB, ABS, X-mode) which can be quite unsafe.

If anyone has any experience with this issue, I appreciate your help. Thank you & stay safe :)

you may be in for some type of smoke testing. Any chance rodents have been chewing on parts of the car?
