I have brand new 2017 outback, 1 month old now. My garage smells weird from my outback. Smells like a strong rubber smell, it stinks. It is not the new tire smell. I am thinking it is from the roof racks, and wondering if the smell goes away over time.

Other than that, the car is great!!

Do you smell the odor in the garage when the vehicle is NOT in the garage?

It's off-gassing. And some of us are very affected by it. Some never notice.

Different materials have different off-gassing duration. They also have different birthdays. The dash may be fine, the seat cushions fine. The roof rails, or suspension bushings...or literally the tires...may be newborn fresh. Rushed to meet demand.

Crack a window...it probably healthier anyway.

it likely is plastic/rubber outgassing, but, it may be worth looking around under the hood for signs of smoke/vapor or leaking, check fluid levels, look on the exhaust for signs of stuck debris or fluid/grease deposits.

I seem to recall a funny odor in the garage the first few weeks after I brought it home, I assumed it was just off-gassing. It disappeared after a while.
