My 2011 2.5I MT Outback has been a great machine for the most part except that there is a issue with the clutch spring popping out of position. It's happened (3) times in a 16 month period. I've discussed this with the service manager looking for a more permanent sollution and he said it's just poor design  I'd like to have the entire clutch pedal assembly replaced but dealer says no... Has anyone else with the 4th Gen manual trans experianced similar issues?

The car is still drivable but there is less travel to the clutch and it requires more force to depress. When it pops out you'll hear a loud forcefull POP, also there is a small plactic clip that'll fall from the assembly to the floor mat.

I took a look at the IL lemon law a while back and it had stated that the 3 repairs would need to take place within the first 12 months of ownership for the lemon law to apply. I'm out of luck... I'm going to try the SOA hotline 800-782-2783, I tried writing an email last week to SOA through the customer service web site and I didnt get any type of response. Bad customer service seems to be becoming more of the norm...

It's definitely the torsion spring that dislodging itself. No, I haven't tried any self repair. No obvious issues with bent parts or misalignment. I would like to see a schematic of the clutch pedal assembly, is there a resource available on the forum?

DrD, your awesome! I was able to talk the service manager into ordering a new torsion spring, hopefully this will help... If I can't get this resolved I'm going to look into another vehicle, probaly with and automatic.

Update

After much complaining to SOA they offered me two options, they would either give me 2000 credit towards a new Subaru or give me the 7yr Gold warranty. I took the extended warranty. Thanks for all the support. BTW the clutch spring problem is known by SOA
