I have a 1997 Legacy Outback Wagon, first the check engine light came on and it seemed to have lower power and poor gas mileage, then the speedo went out and gradually the transmission started acting up, mostly having shifting problems under high accelleration. I took it to a shop and the diagnostics say the speed sensor is out, but there are two different sensors, one being in the trans and not availiable as a part. The mechanic also explained that the signal goes through the speedo before going to the computer, so it could be the speedo or wiring. I remember seeing the A/T temp light come on a few times prior to the tranny acting up, possibly before the speedo went out, but I'm not sure. Does anyone have any suggestions on the most efficient way to proceed in diagnostics and repair? Does anyone know a good/honest Subaru service place around Houston, TX?

Many Thanks in Advance,
Charlie
