I recently purchased a '99 Legacy Outback with an EJ25D engine. I purchased the vehicle expecting to replace the timing belt and pulleys. It has 188K at least, speedometer works intermittently. After looking for timing belt kits, I notice some come with single piece tensioners and some with 2-piece. Since I will probably have to order the kit, can anyone please resolve the issue of which type of tensioner I have. Or tell me the name of a shop in CO front range area that would have a kit and give good advice. Thanks for any and all help.

Yes - that will definitely be a one piece style newer tensioner.

If you can buy a bracket and swap them out though you can use the old style tensioner instead of the new one - they are more reliable and you'll never have to replace the old style tensioner.
