-Is it possible/advantageous to replace ONLY the electrical hub on an a/c compressor?

-Are you able to replace it without removing the whole compressor unit, to avoid having to drain the fluid?

I melted the electrical connection, AT THE CONNECTION (both sides), to the a/c compressor on my 2005 Subaru Outback. The old belt broke then stayed connected and burnt through the plastic on the electrical connection.

You can replace the clutch, if you can find the parts. They aren't sold separately. It can be done without opening the refrigerant gas loop.

You might luck out and find somebody else's broken compressor with a good clutch on it. That would be the cheapest source of parts.

Might be easier just to disassemble yours and make a new wiring harness from scratch.
