Hi from the UK! New Year's Day, all garages are closed and I was off out to lunch....

I have a 2015 Outback. Key fob won't open the door, so I used manual one to gain access. (tried my second never-used key fob to check: same).

The ignition won't start. The light on the push button start is a constant orange colour. I used the car two days ago and drove 100 miles, no problems.

When I got out and manually locked the car again, I noticed a strange "ticking" nose coming from the rear left hand side of the car.

Could anybody give me any pointers here as to what might be the problem? I guess I am going to miss New Year's Day lunch! :frown2:

First obvious thing to check for is a dead battery.

I wonder if the rear gate wasn't quite closed, and the electric assist ran down the battery trying to latch it?

Too bad about the lunch, hope the year picks up from this...

Thank you! The tailgate sounds like a promising theory. Got a friend coming to jump start her. Fingers crossed.
