We already saw the new RLX at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show, but at this week's Detroit event, Acura announced that sales of the car will begin on March 15, with prices for the front-wheel drive model with a 310hp 3.5-liter V6 ranging from $48,450 to $60,450, excluding a destination charge* of $895.

In comparison, BMW's 5-Series starts at $47,800 for the 240hp 528i, $53,400 for the 300hp 530i and $62,700 for the 400hp-strong 550i.

The FWD V6 RLX comes equipped with a standard Sequential SportShift 6-speed automatic transmission, and is anticipated to carry EPA fuel-economy ratings of 20mpg city, 31mpg highway and 24mpg combined.

Later in the year, Acura will expand the range of the RLX with a new version featuring the brand's Sport Hybrid Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (Sport Hybrid SH-AWD) technology, connecting the 3.5-liter V6 to a 7-speed dual clutch transmission and three electric motors for a total system output of 370-horses, with expected EPA fuel-economy ratings of 30mpg city, highway and combined.
