I have a MT OBW, motor died completely. I've found some AT cars with decent motors that I could pull one out of - my question is can I just put the motor in, or what conversion would need to be done to get the AT motor to work in my MT car? Thanks in advance for any experience and help!

Assuming they're both 2.5's and the same generation (i.e. Not trying to do something like go from a DOHC to a phase 2 SOHC), here's what you'll need to do. . .pay close attention so you don't miss anything:

1) Unbolt the flexplate, bolt on your flywheel.

That's pretty much it. Swap the intake if anything looks different. . . Not hard, 8 bolts, 2 hoses, 5 connectors (cam & crank sensors, PS pump, temp sensor for gauge, temp sensor for ECU).

Good idea to replace the oil separator plate while you're in there. OEM were plastic, they heat up and warp and leak. Replacements are metal and will only set you back about $40 from Subaru.

What about the AT motor having egr? As the ECM different?
Assuming MT ecu's are gonna have a strategy not involving EGR.
Though I suppose the egr could just sit there non operational.
