There was one guy maybe a year or two ago who purchased a subaru had the same issue and the forum folks asked if he looked to see if the rear drive line was there and hooked to the rear diff. He thought the idea was crazy. Then reported back that his rear diff was not connected to anything - prior owner had "modified" the car he paid for AWD subaru and got a Front wheel drive car.

Are you sure the drive line to the rear diff is intact and in the car?

If your getting a chirp or some slight wheel spin right at the start of a hard acceleration all subarus will do that on wet or slick surface etc. However they will not continue to spin the front wheels beyond the initial fast start hard throttle scratch once moving the AWD will be 100% in play and you should not get front only wheel spin unless your on some very low traction surface and have the go pedal mashed which case you will have all 4 spinning
