That is a light truck tire I wouldn't put that on the OB for the classic Tahoe from SF type of use. I live in SF by the way been doing that trip with subarus since I bought my new 2001 back in 2001.

The 2010 OB running the crappy Continentals were fine till about 35K then the snow traction was pretty lame. My tires are totally bald getting them done next week WC Discount tire Store - these are the two I'm looking at. They have far better stippling and tread for the Tahoe trips and are proper car tires.

Initial Review, 350 Miles on Tires
December 21, 2010

I have only had these tires for a short while. 350 miles exactlty. But, here in Maryland we have had 2.5 inches of new snow where I live. I got these tires and put 100 miles on them the first dayy in the new snow. They performed great. Went through it like nothing. They are quiet and smooth. I will let you know how they are 20,000 miles from today. So far, so good.

Follow-up Review, 42,000 Miles on Tires
May 09, 2012
Well, I now have 42,000 miles on these tires. I swear I think I am going to get around 80,000 out of these. They have worn exceptionally well. No problems what so ever. I drive 100+ miles a day 6 days a week. 98% highway. I will definitely buy these again!! I have BFG tires on my Tahoe also. Great tires for the money. Best I have ever owned.

Discount tire by the way will put any tire you want on the car you just need them to order the tire. They will however try to push the tire they have in the shop which case the tire you pointed out looks like something they have locally and I wouldn't put that tire on the OB. Not enough tread stippling for Tahoe use that is more of a high mileage truck tire not a all weather All Wheel drive car tire.

Thanks for your help! I agree-- the contiprocontacts are a terrible OEM tire. I am at 30k and they are failing the Penny Test. I will look into these two tires. Would be willing to spend $40 more total for more tahoe grip.

ETA: neither of these are available for my car: 2010 Outback 2.5i base. Tire size: 215 70R16
Be sure to double check the size I only ran them for the 17inch wheel. The 16's actually have a larger number of tires available than the 17's
