Jeez. This is what I get for asking about car modding on a weenie car forum. :)

I've been lifting and 4X4ing and real trailing my Toyota trucks for years and I've lowered and resprung etc my cars forever. If you're careful and do things right, you're going to be fine and usually better than stock. Stock is meant to be conservative, soft and mainly cheap to produce. Aftermarket parts and tuning are nearly always better unless you do something wrong. Bigger tires when going from stock 265 to 305 like my FJ, yes, to you put more strain on the hubs axles etc but you learn to accept that for the better performance where you want it with that vehicle. Off road. Subie needs to be better in snow and rain and on the road. Slightly wider tires that are a much better tread and compound should help out quite a bit.
Subarus aren't Toyotas.

Well, AWD Subarus, anyways...

Meh, I put slightly bigger tires and lifted mine. If the axles go at 80,000 instead of 100,000 then I'll put new axles in and move on. No big deal.

The Ride!

Ninja.... I am no parking garage expert, but that looks like The Ridge at Tahoe. Thanks for the pics. I am not in need of news tires yet, but will check them out as the time gets closer.

Here are a couple photos of my meaty tires. Good quiet ride, very capable tires, loved them in south lake this past weekend.
Looks good! Since the OP was talking about Toyotas, here's a Tire Size Calculator at the Tacoma World website that shows the difference between any two tire sizes and how the change effects the speedometer/odometer:

Hey Sammy,
Good guess, as we are up in Tahoe a lot, but that's back at home in SJ. We will be up there again soon in the New Year.

There are no Michelin 235x60 - 17s, I think he meant 235x55-17 which is what I have been rolling on with 2011 for 30K miles. No problems

I'm interested in the Cooper Discoverer A/T3 in 235/60/17. If your Michelins in that size dont rub then the Coopers shouldn't either. I really like the additional siping on the Coopers vs the Yokohamas.

How did tires affect mpg?

Tires do look good. Wanted to do the same thing to my 2011. Any impact on mpg? I currently get 28 around town on original tires.

I took a hit of about 1-2 mpg, but I think it's worth it. The Subaru seems to be wearing them down quickly though. They are wearing evenly, but I will definitely not hit the 70k mark they are advertised as.

I will definitely go for a similar size with my next set, I like the look, but I really like the grip and feel of them. Good luck! Michelin also has a new 90k tire, the Hydroedge, I will probably get that next.
