While making a list of the fluids I'll need for my 2008 2.5i 4EAT Outback I noticed a discrepancy between the Owners Manual and the Warranty/Maintenance Booklet.

The Owner's Manual recommends DOT 3 or 4 brake fluid. While the Warranty/Maintenance Booklet says only DOT 6 brake fluid should be used.

Any consensus on which is correct?

Nevermind.

Wikipedia suggests DOT 6 brake fluid does not exist, so I assume that was a typo in the Warranty/Maintenance Booklet. Going with DOT 4 for now.

From the US Service Manual, 2008:
489331

Your Canadian spec Outback is built in the same assembly plant as mine, and I doubt it's any different on fluid specs, other that taking your coolant freezing protection level a bit lower.
