I just had my steering rack replaced on my 08 outback under my gold plus warranty I picked the car up tonight and my brake pedal was mushy then my abs light came on and my pedal went all the way to the floor..plus there's a Err 55 message that reads where my trip odometer reads....what could this be? I sh*t my pants when I pressed my brakes and my car didn't stop...I also replaced my brakes 6months ago at 72k including the rotors and i had no problems

My pedal kept going to the floor once my abs light went on...it was scary but I was a mile from my house, but before my car was serviced my brakes were fine

Thank you everyone for all your input...I took the car back to the dealer this morning, I still have my ABS light on and my ABS doesn't work...the car just skids when I slam on the brakes and we are supposed to get snow tomorrow in NY too ha oh well....I've driven my dad's 1976 Bmw 2002 and that doesn't have any safety features to it at all and no ABS so I know what it's like to drive a car that just skids...anyway the dealer told me that one of my ABS sensor is malfunctioning which is why my ABS light is on and the Err SS message is displayed where my trip odometer is...and he also said this would be why my brake pedal was going to the floor...but something doesn't seem right to me...because why would my car go into the dealer and come back with this problem...A few years ago my mom's car went to the dealer for routine service and once we got the car back things started breaking left and right....Drive shafts, axles, 4WD binding, steering rack started leaking....Anyway I have been to this dealer many times before and they have been helpful in the past but I still am curious if they may have done something ...I dunno

I should mention...Before any of this happened....I took my car in to the dealer because I noticed my steering rack was leaking and the dealer put on my snow tires....I picked up my car last night and noticed the brake pedal was mushy but didn't think much of it until my ABS light came on and went to the floor....Now the dealer ordered the ABS sensor for my car and said my car was safe to drive and my brakes are as hard as a rock now...but Yes my ABS light was on and my pedal went all the way to the floor and I know that there was something seriously wrong

Yeah, that's what I figured....honestly it's a load of rubbish that I've had to take my car there 3 times in the past week....I shouldn't complain the brakes are the most important part of a vehicle
